While at WGN radio I was asked to be a part of the Midwest Marines Educator Workshop. We were tasked with filming the entire week and creating a series of stories out of our trip. We were given rare, unbridled access to the emotional Eagle, Globe and Anchor pinning ceremony atop the Reaper, the steep 700 ft-tall mountain that signifies the accomplishment of the Crucible. This is the story of that particular ceremony.
The Crucible is the final challenge in the US Marines boot camp that recruits must complete in order to become a Marine. It is the culmination of 12 weeks of physical, marksmanship, firing range, and combat water survival training. The Crucible consists of drills and training with 60 lbs. of gear over 48 miles within 54 hours, given only two meals and six hours total of sleep. It’s a brutal mental and physical challenge that marks a young man’s transformation into a Marine.
I ended up shooting and editing 15 different videos ranging from The Crucible, to boot camp to a series of interviews.
I was hired to be the creative consultant for Rosebud Media out of Medford, Oregon. This consists of developing the workflow for the creative department and determining what software, equipment, and personnel should be used. Creating the Rosebud branding packages, individual segment animations and on-air packages. Rosebud prides itself in not looking like ‘traditional news’ and having a digital first mentality. These are a few examples of work I have designed and animated up to this point.
Mike Ditka's Gridiron Greats hired After The Whistle to produce their 11 honoree videos for their annual Hall of Fame ceremony in Las Vegas. I was given the script for each honoree and worked from there gathering all assets, editing and animating each video.
After The Whistle was hired to create a sales video for Entercom Chicago that highlighted the new sales structure and why radio is still important. Jackie wrote the script and I gathered assets, edited and animated the video.

Entercom hired After The Whistle to create a ‘Better Together’ video showing why 104.3 Jams the throwback hip hop station and B96 the top 40 station were better when bought together. Their sales staff took this out on the market to all current and potential clients. Jackie wrote the script and I gathered assets and edited the video.
Entercom Chicago partnered with Friends of the Chicago River for their company wide 1Thing initiative. I shot and edited this video reel for the Chicago team who won the Greenie award.
I was hired to shoot and edit the promo video for Mitch King’s Extra Heartbeat Football Academy for his non profit, the Extra Heartbeat Foundation.
